what is a body oil?

a body oil is just that – a combination of oils selected for use on your body, rather than your face. some oils, which may be too heavy for regular use on facial skin, are absolutely perfect for the body, including squalane, jojoba, olive, and coconut.

what does a body oil do?

a body oil assists in maintaining moisture in your skin for several hours. ideally, it provides a protective barrier to prevent loss of hydration.

when should I use a body oil? 

we recommend using a body oil immediately after showing or bathing, when your skin is still damp, to lock in moisture and soothe your skin.

how do I use a body oil?

as with most beauty products, there’s a quick method and a more luxurious but time-consuming regimen. if you’re pressed for time, apply a few drops to damp skin immediately after towel drying the skin, while the skin is still damp. for the ultimate body oil experience, dry brush your skin prior to bathing in a warm tub, with a teaspoon of oil in your bath water. exfoliate the skin gently, and then tap the skin dry prior to applying a few more drops of oil to damp skin. 

what type of skin is best served by this oil?

all skin types can use our blue lotus body oil. for severely dry skin, we recommend a body butter.

where does that entrancing blue color come from?

despite its name, the blue color in our blue lotus body oil does not actually come from blue lotus – we had to abandon lotus essential oil as an ingredient early on as it kept turning our gorgeous concoction moss green. the blue in our oil comes to you courtesy of blue yarrow, which when distilled, partially decomposes into chamazulene to lend its deep blue color. we’ve balanced the grounding, earthy scent of blue yarrow with yuzu – a sparkling, fresh citrus essential oil from Japan. we kept the name of the lotus for our blue beauty, as it describes what we want you to feel each time you use this product: be the lotus, and experience renewal each morning.
