About
Sea Bags is a brand that specializes in creating bags and accessories handmade from recycled sail cloth. They are known for their durable and high-quality products, such as totes, travel bags, and home goods. Sea Bags is committed to sustainability and supporting causes that align with their values, and all of their products are made in the USA -- specifically on the working waterfront of Maine.
Sea Bags was founded in 1999, and to-date has helped keep more than 1.5 million pounds of sails out of landfills. Sea Bags was founded on 3 pillars: creating jobs, being green in product and practice, and giving back to its community. Today, Sea Bags has 50 retail stores from Maine down to Florida and across the U.S. along the Great Lakes and as far west as California.
Founding Story
Sea Bags started as a local business selling bags on Portland, Maine's Custom House Wharf in 1999. Sea Bags was incorporated in 2006, which is also when the brand started selling via e-commerce and to a few gift shops wholesale. In 2008, Sea Bags opened its second retail store. Today, Sea Bags has 50 stores from New England to Florida to the Great Lakes! Everything is still hand made in Maine.

×Team Bios
Sea Bags was founded in 2006 on the principles of being green in product and practice, being made in Maine, and acting as good stewards to our community and state. Sea Bags has employed over 200 people, many of whom Beth mentored and have gone on to run their own companies. Today, Sea Bags has 50 stores, a robust online business, and hundreds of wholesale accounts including Life Is Good and Ralph Lauren - along with a newly-licensed NFL collection.
As Sea Bags continues to grow, Beth remains focused on the core mission of the company: being sustainable in product and process, becoming a best-in-class employer, and keeping production local.
Beth also serves on the boards for the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and serves as Board Chair for the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. She co-founded the Maine Textile Consortium, actively mentors start-ups, and has been named a Woman to Watch by Maine Biz.
