Founding Story
Move2Play was founded in San Francisco by two engineers - Brenden and Jack. Tired of watching their nephews stuck on the couch and glued to screens, they set out to make toys that were engaging enough to keep kids entertained and get them moving!
Now a dad to two-year-old Maya, Jack believes in the power of play to inspire movement and joy in every child. On their origin, "Our original goal was to get kids moving with a screen-free toy that was more fun than video games… super challenging. Essentially we wanted to gamify movement, which first meant recognizing movement. We put some smart sensors in a foam ball, duct taped it together, and sharpied a slightly scary face over the tape. A crude prototype to say the least, but it was actually really engaging. We programmed over 30 games, and kids loved them… Well, some of them. (We quickly found out kids are very honest product testers).
Eventually, that duct taped ball became a tech-embedded series of stuffed animals which evolved into a full line of toys that inspire movement."
Brenden agrees, "We know these toys can be the catalyst for families to create unforgettable moments of play and growth together."
