Founding Story

miniMCM's journey began with a serendipitous discovery in Palm Springs, where founder Aaron Hansen encountered a handmade miniature shell chair during an Airbnb stay. As a lifelong design and art enthusiast, Hansen was captivated by the piece, eventually purchasing it from the owner for $20 and displaying it on his desk. His search for similar pieces revealed a gap in the market – existing options were either prohibitively expensive with long wait times or poorly made dollhouse furniture that failed to capture the essence of the original designs.

This realization sparked a two-year development journey to create the perfect 1/6th scale replica of the iconic shell chair. Through countless iterations of CAD designs, 3D samples, and collaborations with multiple factories, Hansen refined every detail until achieving the exacting standards required for Edition One. Today, each miniMCM piece represents this commitment to quality, featuring premium materials, hand assembly, eco-friendly packaging, and NFC authentication. The brand has created an entirely new category of collectible design, making iconic pieces accessible to art collectors, Mid-Century Modern enthusiasts, and a new generation of design-conscious collectors while maintaining limited production runs to ensure exclusivity and quality.
