community around camping. HEST develops and delivers high-performance, low-maintenance solutions

for camping and travel. HEST was founded in 2019 by outdoor industry product engineer Aaron Ambuske

who was looking for a better night’s sleep when spending nights outdoors. Today, HEST is committed to

building a line of products that takes all the best things from our beds at home into portable,

adventure-ready forms. HEST revels in the idea of enabling more people to get outdoors and enjoy all

Founding Story

THINKING ABOUT SLEEP... KEPT US UP AT NIGHT

In 2016, our founder was rolling through the middle of nowhere - sleep and rest were filling his thoughts. Not because he wanted to stop - but more - thinking about the importance of a good night's sleep and how it affects everything you do.

With the tent calling and the family ready to rally, is a good night's sleep possible? Let's be real... The ground can be mean. You wake up bent and cranky more often than not. How are you supposed to "unplug" and enjoy the great outdoors starting your day like that? The short answer is - you don't.

Let's build a line of products that takes all the best things from our beds at home in a portable, adventure-ready form. What if we could create a sleeping pad that was so comfortable that your groggy morning brain forgot you were even in a tent? How could we build a camping mattress for ultimate comfort in all different kinds of temperatures & weather conditions?

Why the name HEST?

The name HEST derives from Hestia, the ancient Greek goddess of the family hearth & home. Just like Hestia, HEST represents comfort, hygge, and that cozy feeling you get when spending quality time with the people you love most. Bringing the comforts of home along on adventures was the founding idea behind HEST. We think camping should be just as comfortable as a night in your home bed.
