In a compelling partnership, Safe Schools for Alex and Diadem Sports are joining forces to rally the pickleball community to support school safety. The collaboration features two cornerstone events:

1. “Diadem Presents” Mini-Documentary: A poignant 18-minute film premiering in February to mark the seventh anniversary of the 2018 Parkland school shooting.
2. Second Annual Pickleball Tournament Fundraiser: Scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025, 2 PM–8 PM, at the Diadem Pickleball Complex in Coconut Creek, Florida.

Transforming Tragedy into Purpose

After his son Alex was killed in the 2018 Parkland tragedy, Max Schachter—founder and executive director of Safe Schools for Alex—turned heartbreak into activism. He has since worked with Congress, federal agencies, and multiple U.S. Presidents to champion lasting improvements in school safety. Along the way, pickleball gave Schachter a vital outlet for healing, resilience, and community support.

“Diadem Presents” offers an intimate look at Schachter’s journey and the mission of Safe Schools for Alex, to reduce violence in schools. Central to this mission is the nation’s first School Safety Dashboard, a groundbreaking online resource delivering timely, user-friendly school safety data to parents, schools, legislators, and law enforcement.

Empowering Parents Through Data

In most states beyond Florida, schools are not required by law to publicly share school safety incident data such as assaults, bullying, weapons, and drugs. As a result, parents often lack the information they need to advocate effectively for safer schools. Safe Schools for Alex is changing that narrative with SchoolSafetyDashboard.org, a comprehensive platform that tracks and publishes important school safety metrics.

1. Dashboards Activated in 11 States: Safe Schools for Alex has already introduced state-specific dashboards in 11 states, with the goal of expanding nationwide.
