About

Founded in 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bea's (“beez”) Bayou Skincare is named after Arielle’s Louisiana-born, maternal grandmother, Beatrice, and the bayou she played in as a kid around her home. Beatrice had herbal solutions for so many ailments and was the ultimate entrepreneur, selling her delicious pies.

By leveraging the power of probiotics and bayou herbs, Bea's Bayou offers natural relief to frustrated consumers with eczema-related concerns, or we love to say, “angry” scalp! We are the 2022 Aveeno and Essence Skin Health Winner, VillageX alum, 2023 Black Ambitionist, and 2023 BEYGood recipient. We are also a 2024 recipient of the Black Enterprise Disruptor Grant. We are formulating haircare for eczema-sufferers rooted in Louisiana heritage and powered by probiotics.

A whopping 90% of black Americans have dandruff (eczema) and 50% of the world! These stats tell me that we all need more education and options for what we put in and on our bodies! Bea's Bayou is named after my maternal grandmother, Beatrice. Our mission is to move skin health forward and bring long-awaited relief to eczema-sufferers, by providing herbal, microbiome-friendly solutions. We are also committed to caring for the world we live in. Our values are empathy, integrity, courage, collaboration, and joy.

Founding Story

My name is Arielle Brown and I am Founder of Bea's Bayou Skincare from Lafayette, LA by way of New Orleans, LA! I was diagnosed with Seborrheic dermatitis at 13 years old and that's truly where the seeds for Bea's Bayou were planted - I just had no idea. I tried for years to find a solution, including prescribed and medicated, but in 2020, during a scalp flare-up, I had had enough. My background is real estate investing (Realtor since 2018) and being a School Social Worker (Licensed Master Social Worker since 2013. - not practicing). My love for products, finding the true solution of problems, and inspiring confidence in others comes together with my love for bayou botanicals, probiotics, and skincare.

I have completed training programs such as WOC Star, Amazon Business Accelerator, Stitchcrew Beauty Accelerator, Macy’s Accelerate, VillageX, and Mckinsey 1B Founders since we launched in 2020. We also ran a 2021 crowdfund campaign on Fund Black Founders, thanks to the Jrue & Lauren Holiday Fund.

Team Bios

Arielle Brown, LMSW, is Founder of Bea's Bayou Skincare and native of Lafayette, LA. After moving to New Orleans in 2010 for her graduate studies at Southern University New Orleans, she started her 7-year journey as a trauma-focused social worker. Though counseling children was deeply rewarding, Arielle decided to explore entrepreneurship. Bea's Bayou Skincare was founded in 2020 and is named after Arielle’s maternal grandmother, Beatrice. During the pandemic, she created scalp drops to help soothe her inflamed scalp and to her surprise, Bea’s Bayou Skincare started gaining traction with new, curious customers dealing with similar eczema-related concerns. In 2022, Bea’s Bayou Skincare won the Essence and Aveeno Skin Health Pitch Award, and recently was recognized in 2023 as a finalist for Black Ambition Fund and BEYGood Foundation. You can now find Bea’s Bayou at beasbayouskincare.com, Salon Centric online, and on-shelf at Dream House Lounge in New Orleans, LA, and AMP Beauty in Los Angeles, CA. Arielle has participated in various accelerator programs, most recently by VillageX (New Orleans), JLH Fund, Black Chamber of Commerce Contracting Cohort, Black Girl Ventures, Stitchcrew, McKinsey 1B Founders, Founder Gym, and Amazon Black Business Accelerator! She is a member of New Voices Foundation, 15 Percent Pledge, WE Global Studios, VestHER, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc..
