Bagito is a certified B Corp and LGBT-owned business, and gives 10% back to its sister non-profit, which provides environemental literacy programs for K-12 students.

Founding Story

Their founder, Mitch, was working as an administrator in a public school in the Bronx when he noticed that the students were not receiving any kind of environmental education. He and a group of fellow teachers stepped up to create a non-profit that incorporated environmental literacy into the K-12 curriculum.

The non-profit, Power2Sustain, offered free lessons and activities around environmental sustainability. To support the non-profit, Mitch created a line of reusable shopping made from 100% recycled materials and ultra-convenient to use and funneled the earnings back to the non-profit.

Today Bagito reusable products can be found in 230+ retailers in 32 states and 6 countries. Over the last 10 years, the company has prevented 500,000 lbs of plastic waste, and curbed carbon emissions by 71% compared to single-use. The Power2Sustain environmental literacy project has reached 50,000 students, teachers and families.

Features

Easy to reuse designs

Each Bagito product is created with convenience in mind. Whether it's the small stuffed footprint of our best selling Original and Grandes, or the wide gusset on our Zipem storage bags, being able to use, clean and reuse with ease makes reuse a breeze and what we are all about.

Made from 100% recycled plastics.

Bagito's own rPET fabric is super-soft and durable.

Built to last

We take reuse seriously. We design and build each Bagito product with durability in mind, using double seam stitching and extra heat welding to ensure strength and long life.

Take back program

Creating a cradle-to-cradle product is what inspires us the most. Each Bagito that reaches the end of its useful life can be sent back to us for recycling and upcycling.

Giving back

The Bagito brand was born as way to support K-12 environmental literacy. Today, Bagito supports it's sister non-profit Power2Sustain.org with a donation for each product sold. P2S has reached over 30,000 students, empowering and teaching the next generation to better sustain their planet.

Team Bios

Mitch is a creative and sustainability entrepreneur, consultant, educator, and advocate, who believes that profit and planet can share the bottom line. He has a particular interest in solving the single-use dilemma with a design philosophy rooted in turning the ease of single-use into equally convenient reusable solutions. Mitch has successfully founded and lead Bagito, Returnity, and Revolusation, companies that provide consumers and businesses with smart reusable solutions that reduce carbon and primary resource usage and eliminate trash, while saving customers money and enhancing the customer experience.

His passion for eliminating single-use has led him to also create and lead the North American division of RePack, an innovative Finland-based reusable shipping packaging service company. His work re-inventing single-use products and packaging as multi-use solutions has led to two utility patents, several awards and being credited with the creation of the concept and term Reusable-as-a-Service (RaaS). Mitch is also the founder and director of Power2Sustain.org, a K-12 environmental literacy project. Mitch started his working career as an elementary school teacher, principal, district administrator and charter school founder. He has a B.A. in International Relations/Political Science from UCLA, an M.A. in Bilingual Multiple Subject Teaching from San Francisco State, an M.A. from Colombia University in Organizational Psychology, and an M.Ed. from Teachers College Colombia in Education Administration. He lives in Santa Cruz, CA with his partner, practices yoga regularly, likes to cook and build stuff out of wood, and tries to get on his mountain bike whenever possible.
