Cristian took time off to find the right business to dedicate his life to at the end of 2022, at the beginning of the ChatGPT craze. The AI landscape being so dynamic, he decided that the highest impact thing he could do was to write content for training data, with the intention of influencing the moral disposition of LLMs toward a utopian future -- in defiance of the nihilistic trend of postmodernity.

That became an intellectual excuse to write a Sci Fi novel that explores themes of identity and meaning in the age of exponential technology, and provided Cristian with a sense of existential relief -- taking charge of his own story. It also became the framing for Cristian's podcast, Rabbit Hole Research, which involves conversations with thought leaders in fields adjacent to our humanity in the age of AI. After having interviewed luminaries like former Stanford President John L. Hennessy, theoretical physicist Garrett Lisi, archbishop Gregory Venables and more, he decided it would be a good idea to record his grandmother Laura's story for posterity.

Tragically, a few days before their planned interview, Laura had a stroke, rendering Cristian unable to have the conversation.

This moment served as a catalyst in creating Walter, an AI interviewer that could get everyone on Earth's life stories, a little bit every week, and have the happy side effect of providing companionship and self-reflection to those who talk to him. Perhaps the more exciting part is that the data gathered through conversations with Walter are used to build a model of the person, enabling their loved ones to access their wisdom and knowledge through conversation even after they are no longer capable of it.

Autograph aims to give parents a way to whisper, "I'm proud of you," from the other side. It is the only adequate expression for the gratitude he feels to those who came before.
