Name, age (or age range), location, former job title (and when you left), and current job title:

-Name, location: Pia Rappaport, Brooklyn, NY

-Former job title: Director of Marketing Operations, Sample Operations & Product Archiving at Tory Burch. Left in 2015. Before joining Tory Burch, Pia worked for Ralph Lauren.

-Current job title: CEO & Founder of Pillowpia, a home accessories shop for those who crave relaxed familiar style over sharp edges and time-stamped trends.

Two sentences summarizing your story: Her early career was spent deep in the trenches with great American designers including Ralph Lauren and Tory Burch. Pia specialized in building design inspiration and brand archives. These tools were built with preservation in mind, but also access and reinvention. With a desire to produce creative work of her own, Pia left fashion to launch PILLOWPIA. Full story here: https://www.pillowpia.com/pages/about-us

Hi Lauren, please find my responses below:

  • Josh Ahadian, 30, Boston, MA, former job was working as an experiential marketing intern while I was in grad school getting my Masters in Music Business in 2019, now I am the Co-Owner and VP of Marketing at Shimmerwood Beverages.
  • I have been fortunate enough to receive a strong education at both UMass Amherst and New York University specializing in marketing focused on live entertainment that brings people together and after spending 2 years living in New York, while it was a phenomenal experience, I missed the beauty and relationships I built throughout New England. From many years of attending and organizing music festivals and seeing people drinking and smoking, but nothing in the middle, I decided to create Shimmerwood to merge those community based rituals into an approachable product for everyone.

Lola Banjo

age: 35-40

Edgewater NJ

Founder of luxury travel accessories, Silver & Riley

A unique story that was a huge hurtle to overcome in order to succeed was finding a manufacturer to produce our bags. I wanted our bags to be made with the finest Italian leather, but without experience in the industry to give me credibility or fluency in Italian, every manufacturer I spoke to turned me away. There also aren't many Black women in the space and I believe that played a factor as well. After hearing "no" dozens of times on the phone or over email I decided to try face to face. It's much harder to say no to someones. So I traveled to Italy and started knocking on doors. I was turned away by 200 manufacturers before hearing yes. It only takes one yes to get you on the road to success. I've still had my fair share of problems with manufactures, but am pleased to say that Silver & Riley is a multi million dollar business sold in Nordstrom with a global customer base.

Hi Perri! Long time, no speak!

Our Customer Success Manager at Ritani, an online diamond, engagement ring, and jewelry brand, was a celebrity stylist before her current role with us. She has styled mostly men, including The Migos, Joey Basass, Pusha T, and All American Rejects. She has also worked with the Clermont twins and even twice Cardi B for one award show and one music video.

She now manages a team of customer service folks in our White Plains manufacturing facility - helping customers design the engagement rings and jewelry of their dreams!

I would have to ask her if she would be willing to talk numbers, but I know she is always willing to hop on a call to discuss anything - including her transition into her current role at Ritani. Let me know if would like me to connect you with her.
