Authority Magazine Writer Looking for Power Women: How To Successfully Navigate Work, Love and Life As A Powerful Woman

Despite all the wonderful rhetoric about creating a society with gender parity, men, as well as women, sometimes feel uncomfortable around powerful women. We would like to feature and interview "Power Women", successful, accomplished women leaders to share their stories and experiences navigating work, love, and life as a powerful woman.

Hi Emilee!

I would love to submit Lindsey Mallon for this! Lindsey is a single mother and entrepreneur who is currently focusing on expanding the conversation around the progression of modern femininity through panels, podcasts, and her two brands, Nadjarina  + Splyt.

Name: Lindsey Mallon

Company/Specialty: Nadjarina + Splyt

Answer the following question:

How does a successful, strong, and powerful woman navigate work, employee relationships, love, and life in a world that still feels uncomfortable with strong women?

Lindsey Mallon believes it’s a walk, not a run, especially in today’s landscape. As a single mother, she creates space and finds the balance to manage work, employee relationships, love, and life, but the key is, she does it with confidence and unapologetic femininity.  Lindsey also won't stop until her visions come to life. Her passions for her family, a greater social sustainability, and a shift in the way women dominate the world drive her to make these aspects a priority.

Through Nadjarina, Lindsey looks at how women today define their roles and narratives, what it means to feel empowered or sensual, and reclaims that context through the female gaze (whereas most fashion is designed by men). She creates a conversation around what is required of women today- from the innate feminine roles to more masculine roles in the workplace, and how to create balance and elevate our identities as we push those roles forward. Nadjarina recognizes the need for a wardrobe that empowers and inspires the many sides of us, while still maintaining an effortless sensibility.

Lindsey is also the founder of Splyt: a blockchain company focused on supply chain & sales transparency. Another male-dominated industry that Lindsey is completely taking over. She co-founded this blockchain company to create product traceability and authenticity from raw material to manufacturing to sales.

Lindsey is making space for the strong, powerful woman in today's society while navigating responsibilities in her personal life, work life, and community as a whole all at once.

Feel free to include this image as well :) Thanks so much!

Find your north star and stick to it. Since success is not built overnight, it takes hard work and determination, and patience is crucial. In order to stay level and ignore the noise, I often remind myself of my WHY. Why did I want to craft my own skincare line? Why did I want to share my clean routine with others? That passion drives me to remember that it is about the journey and not just the destination. Focusing on my 'north star' helps not only in business but also when navigating personal challenges as well.

I graduated from MIT and worked for big beauty companies like L'Oreal and Estee Lauder over a decade before starting my own brand. I've worked with many strong, successful women over the years, many who sacrificed their relationships or marriages while building their careers. The struggle for work/life balance is real. I saw so many women while they moved to higher positions at work, their love/life suffers – breakups and divorces. I believe there are two issues: (1) if a woman has the right partner who is confident enough of his/her own ability, and will truly be happy for her, instead of seeing her as a competitor. (2) if a woman is willing to set boundaries at work to invest in her love/life relationship, so she can maintain some sort of work/life balance. For example, I know a C-level mom, because of her crazy work schedules and demands, her husband quit his job as an attorney so he could take care of their kids (because they didn’t want the nanny to be the one to raise their kids). That is a perfect example for my point (1) earlier. I also remember one Senior VP who eventually got a devoice, because she had to cancel so many family engagements last minutes due to work demands and short-noticed business trips. That’s a good example for my point (2). There is really no easy way to balance work and family. It becomes a choice one must make – which one to prioritize and how much you are willing to sacrifice for the other. And the ones who manage to have a successful work/home life require a good support system, and lean on others in family and community!

I have never been a person that is swayed by other people’s opinion of me. I am very clear about who and what my priorities are in life and I proudly/unashamedly give great attention to them all because each one is very important to me. First, on my list of priorities is my faith in God, then family, my peace, and then my business. My life experiences have pushed me to stand proud as a successfully strong and powerful Latina woman, regardless of what others feel about it.
