The Book That Changed My Life

Books have the power to shape, influence and change our lives. We would love to interview business leaders as well as the general public who can share a story about a book that changed their life, and why.

All of the full interviews will be published in Authority Magazine, and they will look similar to the following:

In addition, after all the interviews are completed, an article featuring the best ideas will be published in Buzzfeed.

Individuals who are accepted for this series will be featured in at least 1 - 3 articles.

Yitzi Weiner and Sara Connell will be the primary leads for the series. Most interviews will not require phone interviews and can be done by email.

The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell

I read this as a part of doing the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge and had no idea it would affect me so strongly. It showed me that even when I feel lost and alone, my path has already been laid at my feet thanks to the hero's journey. And as a part of that journey, it's the hero's responsibility to help other heroes on their journey. All my struggles with chronic illness have prepared me to go through the journey and then to help others in their journies.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Bettie Smith

I read this as a part of doing the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge and loved it. This book is an excellent example of the transformative power of books. It seems a bit incredible to say, but books really can change your life, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn beautifully chronicles that journey.

The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews. I read this book in my early 20s and very fortunate I was lucky to experience this book earlier in life, because I think about it all the time and have read it several times now. It teaches you the seven fundamental strategies for creating a successful life. This made me realize no matter my struggle, failures or bad day I was having, you can think back to this book - to history - for answers.

This book travels back in time, meeting leaders and heroes at crucial moments in their lives—from Abraham Lincoln to Anne Frank. By the time the journey is over, you have received seven secrets for success—and a second chance.
