Founding Story

Long before Ziwi, brothers Tony and Terry Pearce helped reshape the mattress industry as the innovators behind the original Purple mattress. Their breakthrough approach to comfort and support challenged decades of conventional mattress design and helped introduce millions of consumers to a new way of thinking about sleep. After stepping away, the brothers continued studying one of the industry’s most persistent challenges: how to create a mattress that delivers both pressure relief and support without forcing sleepers to compromise between the two.

That pursuit led to the creation of Ziwi and its patent-pending ZiPP™ technology. Rather than relying on the traditional horizontal layers used in most mattresses, Ziwi features vertically interlocked soft and firm foam channels that work together to adapt to different body types and sleep positions. The design was created to improve pressure relief, support, responsiveness, and airflow while addressing limitations the founders observed throughout their decades in the sleep industry.

Today, Ziwi represents the Pearce brothers’ next chapter in sleep innovation.
